A empresa britânica G2O Water Technologies ganhou seu primeiro pedido comercial para melhorar as membranas de filtração de água com óxido de grafeno.

UK-based technology company G2O Water Technologies has secured its first commercial contract to improve water filtration membranes with graphene oxide.

This is particularly significant for both the technology company and the water sector worldwide, as it is the first commercially successful application of the recently developed material for water treatment.

The benefits of using graphene oxide are to improve membrane performance by mitigating the effects of fouling – one of the biggest challenges facing operators of membrane-based water filtration systems.

A graphene oxide coating, successfully developed and trialed by the company in the northwest of England in collaboration with Hydrasyst Limited, enables operators to improve operating efficiency, reduce energy consumption and cut chemical use.

This is expected to extend membrane life and significantly reduce the cost and environmental impact of water treatment.

Hydrasyst, the early adopter of the technology, is a UK-based provider of turnkey solutions for advanced membrane technology systems, particularly for industrial processes.

Commenting on the collaboration with G2O, Kyle Wolff, managing director of Hydrasyst, said:
