Does the New Normal consist of everyone getting Vaccinated and Getting the Booster?

Joe Biden announced his administration isn’t recommending lockdowns “for now” over the so-called Omicron variant, claiming the “new normal” will be “everyone” getting the COVID injection and the booster shot.

The “New Normal”

When asked by a reporter Monday if he’s taking lockdowns “off the table,” Biden said, “yes, for now.”

“Because we’re able to– if people are vaccinated and wear their masks, there’s no need for lockdowns,” Biden said.

When asked whether “intermittent travel restrictions” and “drops in the stock market” would become the “new normal” every time there’s a new COVID variant, Biden said the new normal will actually be universal vaccination.

“I expect the new normal to be, everyone ends up getting vaccinated and the booster shot, so we reduce the number of people who aren’t protected to such a low degree that we’re not seeing the spread of these viruses,” Biden said.

Biden called on Americans to resume wearing masks in indoor settings and have their children take the injection in response to the Omicron variant eventually reaching the U.S.

“Do not wait. Go get your booster if it’s time for you to do so. And if you are not vaccinated, now is the time to go get vaccinated and to bring your children to go get vaccinated,” he said.
